Shirley and I first met Maureen and Don when we stopped off at Kojinup for lunch, on our way from Perth to Albany; “Watch out for the silver Maureen, the poms are here” - Don’s warm welcome of course, dear Don, a true legend. They were so warm and generous, Maureen’s wonderful food, Don’s sharp wit, beautiful people.
After Don sadly passed away, Maureen came to the UK with Gabrielle and Steve for their marriage in Jersey.
We’ll always remember our time together after Jersey, trundling around the south of England in our old Galaxy, Maureen’s scrap metal (as Steve called it) in the boot- not exactly scrap of course, but a hired walking aid for Maureen which served her well.
We all drove back to Norfolk, and Maureen met our family here; they loved her, kind and gentle, able to communicate with young and old.
So we have lovely memories of Maureen, too many to recall here, and though we’ve known her for around fifteen years or so, it seems much longer. The world needs more Maureens.
Dear Maureen, we’ll miss you, but you will always be in our hearts. We feel blessed to have known you you.
I first met Maureen when I was dating her grandson back in 2024 and ended up invited to a family breakfast. One of the first things that stood out to me instantly was her warmth, kindness and how welcomed she made me feel in her presence. I grew to become extremely fond of her and was pleased to discover that it was reciprocated.
I may not have known her for long but the impact she had on me was significant and I am grateful each day that I got to meet this rare gem of a woman. Even though our time together was brief she will forever hold a special place in my heart. The world needs more people like her.

Proverbs Chapter 31 described you as a capable wife, a mum who loved her children equally and a grandmother who loved them equally. You will be missed by a lot of people, because of your loving nature.
My hope is that I will see you again.
